BayernLB finances logistics headquarters for Levi Strauss & Co. Europe

Munich/Düsseldorf In cooperation with project developer Delta Development Group, BayernLB is financing a new logistics centre, to be built near the German town of Dorsten, for the Luxembourg company DNG Dorsten. A total leasable area of around 70,411 square metres is being developed. The “positive footprint warehouse” will serve as the new headquarters for Levi Strauss & Co. Europe, which has signed a 20-year lease.

BayernLB is thus part of a project for creating Germany's first logistics space that meets the Cradle to Cradle® sustainability standard. Cradle to Cradle® is a circular construction method based on the principles of recycling, resource conservation and waste reduction, with the aim of keeping the ecological footprint as small as possible. This is achieved through environmentally safe, healthy and recyclable materials (technical recycling or composting), by using solar power or other regenerative forms of energy and by using water and other resources responsibly.

Thanks to renewable energy sources, the property can meet a large portion of its own energy needs. LEED1 and WELL2 certifications further underpin the building’s sustainability credentials. Delta is thereby paving a new way for future-oriented construction.

Edwin Meijerink, managing director of Delta Projektentwicklung und Management GmbH, is pleased: “By signing the financing agreement we have taken another step towards making the Levi Strauss & Co. European distribution centre a reality. We look forward to working with BayernLB.”

Markus Tentler, who heads the National Real Estate Finance department at BayernLB’s Düsseldorf office, had this to say: “Partnering with Delta in this outstanding project, where a key objective is making the property sustainable, fits in excellently with our motto ‘Financing progress.’ Plus, this is a great way for us to expand our activities in, and for, North Rhine-Westphalia.”
