BayernLB acquires Jan-Peter Müller as Global Head of Energy & Mobility

Munich – Jan-Peter Müller will take the reins as the new head of the Energy & Mobility Division in BayernLB’s Corporates & Markets Business Area as at 1 January 2022. The 37-year old joins the Bank from Commerz Real AG, where since 2017 he has been responsible for all the Group's investments in infrastructure as Head of Asset Structuring and Infrastructure Investments. In addition to this role, Müller is Managing Director (CEO) of Commerz Real S.a.r.l. and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Veja Mate Offshore Projekt GmbH, one of Germany's largest offshore wind farms. Müller, born in Munich, began his career as a strategy consultant at Kienbaum Management Consultants in Berlin, from where, after completing a Master's degree at London School of Economics, he switched to the Competence Center of Energy at Commerzbank in Hamburg. Müller held several management and specialist positions in Corporate Banking at Commerzbank before joining Commerz Real.

“We are delighted that with Jan-Peter Müller we have gained an experienced manager and a proven expert in renewable energy, infrastructure investments, project finance and sustainable business strategies as head of the Energy & Mobility Division,” explained Johannes Anschott, who is responsible for the Corporates & Markets Business Area in BayernLB’s Board of Management. “Our goal as a financier of progress is to be a top partner, assisting our customers with the forward-looking transformation and decarbonisation of their business models. With his broad expertise, his experience in corporate banking and his passion as a dealmaker, Jan-Peter Müller is ideally qualified to achieve this,” Anschott continued.

Jan-Peter Müller follows in the footsteps of Dr Christoph Fischer, who is leaving BayernLB. Peter Bertling, head of the Corporate Clients Division, is departing the Bank as well. Ralph Folda, who also heads up one of BayernLB’s Sales divisions, will take over the division for the time being. “I would like to thank Christoph Fischer and Peter Bertling for their hard work in developing and streamlining our corporates business under the Fokus 2024 strategy programme,” explained Johannes Anschott. “In the case of Christoph Fischer, I would especially like to stress his great commitment in structured asset finance, and his considerable contribution to the strategy project in the business area and to advancing the Energy & Mobility Division. I would like to thank Peter Bertling in particular for his achievements in furthering our corporate clients business and the Technology & Infrastructure Division, as well as his work prior to this as Head of Global Corporates.”
