Stephan Winkelmeier, CEO
Stephan Winkelmeier (born in 1967) has been CEO of BayernLB since 1 July 2019.
Stephan Winkelmeier, who hails from Regensburg, was previously Chief Executive Officer and spokesman for FMS Wertmanagement.
After completing a banking apprenticeship and a degree in business administration at the University of Passau, Stephan Winkelmeier started his career in 1994 as a trainee at what was then Bayerische Vereinsbank. He held various specialist and management positions at HypoVereinsbank before being appointed to the Board of Management of Bank Austria in 2008, where he acted as Chief Risk Officer.
He moved from there to BayernLB in 2010, where he served on the Board of Management until 2014 as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer. After a spell as managing director of a mid-sized private equity company, Stephan Winkelmeier joined the Executive Board of FMS Wertmanagement in 2015.
Marcus Kramer, Member of the Board of Management
Marcus Kramer joined the BayernLB Board of Management in May 2010 as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). In addition to Group-wide risk management, he is also responsible for the divisions Group Compliance, Credit Consult and Economics and Research.
After completing a bank apprenticeship, Mr Kramer (b. 1963) studied business administration, completed a training programme and in 1991 began his professional career with Credit Suisse Group in Frankfurt and then in London.
He then moved to Deutsche Bank where he held various positions in London, New York and Frankfurt.
In 2004, he was appointed Executive Manager and Chief Credit Risk Officer at WestLB Bank.
From 2008 to 2010, Mr Kramer served as a member of the management board for Commerzbank's Mittelstand bank and its Chief Risk Officer.
Dr Markus Wiegelmann, Member of the Board of Management
Dr. Markus Wiegelmann joined BayernLB's Board of Management in January 2014 as CFO and COO. He is responsible for the Bank's Financial Office and Operating Office.
Dr Wiegelmann was born in 1969 and completed his PhD at the Technische Universität München (TUM) after graduating in mathematics from RWTH Aachen in 1998. He then completed the Deutsche Bank trainee programme before holding various specialist and management functions in lending and risk management. In 2004, Dr Wiegelmann joined BayernLB where he served in several management positions before being appointed to the Board of Management. He headed the Risk Office Corporates, the Restructuring Unit and finally Group Controlling.
Gero Bergmann, Member of the Board of Management
Gero Bergmann (born in 1970) joined BayernLB’s Board of Management on 1 April 2021 and from 1 May 2021 he will take the reins of the Real Estate & Savings Banks/Financial Institutions Business Area including the municipal and development bank BayernLabo.
Following a bank apprenticeship at Berliner Bank he obtained a law degree at the Freie Universität Berlin. He then worked as a lawyer at a Berlin-based law firm. At BerlinHyp, which Gero Bergmann switched to in 1999, he took on various management roles in the Real Estate division. 12 years later, Gero Bergmann was appointed to the Board of Management of BerlinHyp, which he remained part of until the end of 2020. In his role there he was responsible for the real estate business, portfolio management and the Treasury.
Johannes Anschott, Member of the Board of Management
Johannes Anschott (born in 1969) has been a member of BayernLB’s Board of Management since 1 April 2021 and is responsible for the corporate clients and capital markets business. The Corporates & Markets Business Area under his remit includes BayernLB’s business with corporates and mid-sized (Mittelstand) corporate clients, as well as the Bank's capital market activities.
After completing an apprenticeship as a banker and a degree in business administration, he started his career in the corporate clients business of National Bank, based in Essen. Johannes Anschott spent most of his working life at Commerzbank, where he held various German and international management roles in Corporate Banking, was responsible for the northern German large corporates business and was a managing director of Mittelstandsbank Nord. In 2016 he was appointed to the Board of Management of Commerz Real AG and from June 2020 until his move to BayernLB he was Chairman of the Board of Management.
